Welcome to the 40th annual
Gloria Shields NSPA Summer Media Workshop.

A year ago we would be packing suitcases and loading into school vehicles for the trek to Addison. Now we are launching Zoom apps from the safety of our homes; our friends, staff and adviser just a tap away on our smartphones.

When planning for the 40th annual Gloria Shields NSPA Summer Workshop, we never imagined this, but journalists do what journalists do so well – we prepare to pivot, adapt and work to get the job done. Our goal is to offer you the Gloria Shields experience you expect from us year after year but with necessary social distancing adaptations.

All registered workshop participants (instructional and coaching) will receive an email with a Zoom link for the Monday Opening Session at 2 p.m. CDT, as well as the Zoom links for all of Tuesday morning’s instructional sessions.

For the rest of the week, we will email out instructional session information the night before with descriptions, audience recommendations and the Zoom links. Each instructional class is a separate Zoom link. You will be able to join from the Zoom app or through your web browser. You will have to leave the class to join the next one.

For all yearbook registrants, you’ll also get a Zoom link for the opening theme presentation by NSPA associate executive director Gary Lundgren at 3 p.m. Monday. 

For those signed up for coaching sessions, you will receive a separate email with Zoom links for the coaching courses in your registration.

We’ve included our Zoom code of conduct, tech tips and help desk contact information for you as well.
